One comment I made on a peer’s paper was that I thought they could make their arguments and thesis more clear. Having a clear thesis is definitely one of the most important parts of a paper, and without it, the paper is wishy-washy and a little confusing. This comment was under the “ideas” category because it had to do with the ideas the author brought up.

Another comment I made on two papers was that I thought my peers could incorporate Southan and the TED speaker’s views in their conclusions more. I think this would improve the conclusion and make the essay much stronger. This comment was under the “evidence” category because quoting Southan or the TED speaker would support the author’s claim.

A third comment I made was how important I thought it was to restate Southan’s and the TED talk speaker’s ideas in the conclusion. The conclusion is a very important part of the paper, and if there is a strong conclusion, the audience will be left with a much stronger message.  This comment was in the “organization” category because the conclusion is an important part of the paper’s organization.

I thought prioritizing global edits over local edits was hard. In high school, I was taught to focus on grammar, spelling and punctuation as much as content, so I immediately look for grammatical errors when editing. However, I found many great ideas in my peer’s papers and think that global edits are just as important as local edits when it comes to writing a good paper.
