I’ve had a good experience with peer reviewing in this class so far. I think that giving my peers comments has allowed me to become a more critical thinker. Reading through a paper looking for ways it can be improved and strengthened has helped me be a more thoughtful reader. It has also helped me get better insight into what I can fix in my own work. For example, something I know I need to work on in my papers is reducing the number of run-on sentences I write. I definitely think this is one of my biggest struggles when writing a paper. I often string together multiple sentences with a comma or a semicolon when I should start a whole new sentence. I gave my peers suggestions on how they could break up their long sentences, and realized that I should take my own advice and work on more concise sentences.

While run-on sentences are probably my biggest challenge while writing papers, I also need to work on my transitions. Finding the right words to switch from one topic to the next can be hard for me, but I know I can improve them with some effort. I might need to read some of my previous papers. If I need more inspiration, I can look to other writers and how they transition from one idea to the next.

If a problem comes up in my writing and I can’t solve it on my own, there are multiple resources I can go to. I can ask a classmate or friend for advice on my writing and learn from their opinions. I can ask my professors, who can give me good advice and helpful comments. I can also go to the SASC and get help from the staff there. There are many ways I can get outside help to improve my papers.
