For this exercise, I highlighted claims, transitions, and key terms from my second paper. I highlighted my claims in green, my key terms in blue, and transitions in gray. I also highlighted every time I wrote the phrases  “I believe” and “I think”; this exercise showed me how repetitive my writing is and how I can work to improve diction, transitions and strong claims.

While doing this exercise, I noticed many things I can improve on my paper. When I tried to highlight my transitions between paragraphs, I often couldn’t because the last sentences of my paragraphs were my claims. I think that if I incorporate my claims more into the body of my paragraphs, I can have smoother transitions.

I think the third to last paragraph in my paper is somewhat passive and hard to follow. I didn’t really include any strong claims, and my transitions weren’t smooth. To fix this, I could use devices like quote sandwiches to explain my quotes more effectively.
